PermeGear V9-CB Stirrer - End View with Franz Cell & Tubing

This photograph shows how to connect a jacketed Franz Cell to the water supply manifolds of any multi-cell PermeGear magnetic stirrer. Shutoff valves may be placed in each length of tubing if the user wishes to remove the cell and leave tubing sections attached to the arms of the cell's heating jacket. Another way to remove one or more cells is to place a length of tubing from the hose barb fitting in one manifold to the corresponding fitting in the other manifold. The cell in the photo is a jacketed Franz Cell with a flat ground joint, clear glass, and 5ml receptor volume. This cell is the most common Franz Cell in use today.

Older Style PermeGear V9A Stirrer

This stirrer is of an older variety with clear acrylic cell holders and stainless steel manifolds. The stainless steel manifolds were discontinued in the 1990s. This stirrer which is now available with black anodized aluminum cell holders is 50" (127cm) long and as a center-to-center distance between the cell holders of 5" (13cm). The newer black anodized aluminum manifolds with their 1/8NPT tapped ports allow researchers to use various fittings of their choice to customize connections to the Franz Cells. The stainless steel handles were replaced with aluminum handles that also act as supports for the water manifolds.
